RKYC Circuit Regatta Report
June 29th, 2008: The first regatta for the 2008 racing season for the New Brunswick Sailing Team was the Royal Kennebeccasis Yacht Club NBSA Circuit regatta. There was a great turn out with 3 29ers, 6 Lasers, 5 Radials, 5 Bytes, and a 420.
Day 1: The first day of the RKYC Circuit Regatta, was a day of light winds and strong currents. Winds we about 7 knots all day with cloudy skies and at time up to 2 knots of current. The 29ers were able to complete 5 races, while the others were able to complete 4. As the first regatta in the New Brunswick Sailing Association Canada Games Trials, it is evident that it is going to be a close race for many of the classes.
Day 2: The second day of the RKYC Circuit Regatta started off with stronger winds of about 14 knots, and racing out in Grand Bay where the waves were a little larger than the previous day. As the day progressed, the wind diminished to nearly nothing on the way in. All classes were able to complete 3 races giving a regatta total of 8 races for the 29ers and 7 for all other classes. Not bad for a light wind regatta.
Thanks to all of the volunteers who helped to make this regatta possible. Also Thank you to Subway for providing the sandwiches in the lunches. Click here for regatta results. Visit this website often to keep up to date with the latest upcoming events and news.
