RYC Circuit Regatta Report
July 12th, 2008: The Rothesay Yacht Club NBSA circuit regatta was the second of three regattas in New Brunswick this summer. This regatta is also the second regatta in the New Brunswick 2009 Canada Summer Games qualifying series.
Day 1 - Saturday: The first day of the RYC Circuit regatta saw very light winds. With the first race starting on time at 11:00 AM the northerly wind gradually died as the sea breeze tried to come in. The second and final race of the day had the wind almost completely die. Sailors had to fight the current coming down wind and often were drifting back up the course. The Race Committee decided to call the racing for they day at about 2:00 PM. The Sea Breeze came in at about 2:15 PM. O Well the forecast for tomorrow is stronger winds.
Day 2 - Sunday: The wind finally arrived for the second day of the Rothesay Yacht Club Circuit Regatta. 15 Knots eventually increasing to 20 Knots of wind and lots of chop were the conditions on Sunday. The race committee was able to run three (3) races giving a regatta total of 5 races. As the day went on more and more sailors came in early as the wind strength increased. It was a great turn out for the second of three NBSA circuit regatta with the final event being in two weeks in Shediac. Thanks to all the volunteers and sponsors who helped to run this event.
